Carol Ann Sayle is co-founder and co-owner of Boggy Creek Farm, a five-acre urban, organic farm in Austin, Texas. Sayle, 64, a native Texan, began farming with her husband, Larry Butler, in 1991. Earlier, she had a 20-year career in painting, but she enthusiastically put down the brush to take up the hoe. Her canvas is now a five-acre organic farm just two miles from downtown Austin, the capital of Texas. Carol Ann works full time on the Austin farm, while Larry manages their rural farm. She writes a weekly email newsletter, which began in 1997, to keep farmstand customers up to date on the farm, its stories and its produce. Her chickens are her pets.
